MOTD: 21st February \\ Dark Smokey eye.

I'm gonna focus todays makeup post mostly on my eyes as my skin didn't look too great to be completely honest.
Here was my eye look though, a very dark smokey eye, similar to one I've already done on my blog before, just a touch darker and deeper under the eyes too:
For this look I used mostly the Naked Basics palette by Urban Decay but also a MAC eyeshadow. I used "Concrete" by MAC on my eyebrows if you're wondering (which as well as my skin, looked a riot on this particular day, lol, just my luck)
I think this look is perfect on any and everyone, eye colour/shape, everyone. Just adapt it to your eye shape is all I'd say, as I generally prefer a winged out look, you might not. Obviously if you want to do this look on yourself, you can use whatever colours/brands etc you have. You do not need to go out and buy exactly what I'm using, I'm just telling you what I used incase you DO have it, because it would obviously be easier. And if you don't have it, just click on the links I've put in and it'll show you what colours to look for in your own collection to recreate this!
Anyway, steps for this look are:
  • DO NOT DO YOUR FOUNDATION FIRST. With this dark of an eye look, you are bound to get some fallout and or mess up, if you do your foundation first, you will regret it. Just like I did.
  • Prime your eyelids (and under your eye if you like) with anything you like that you feel keeps your eyeshadow on longer, whether that be Urban Decay's Primer Potion or just your normal concealer, use it. It helps. Can't stress that enough.
  • Next, with a big fluffy crease brush, put a nice brown through your crease and just above it as your transition shade, it helps with blending, A LOT, trust me. For this I used a mix of "Wedge" by MAC and Naked 2 from the Basics palette.
  • With a smaller, less fluffier crease brush, start to put the colour "Faint" more precisely through the crease.
  • Next, with a flat eyeshadow brush, one that's used mainly to pack colour on, apply a generous amount of the colour "Crave" from the Basics palette all over the mobile lid (ie, no further than your crease)
  • Don't panic if it's not dark enough yet, it is SO much easier to add more colour than it is to take away. Especially when working with black. Add as much as you like for however dark you'd like it to be.
  • Next, use a teensy weensy (good technical words, eh?) pencil brush to get very close to your lashline with the colour "Crave", blend that out with your big fluffy brush you used first with Wedge and Naked 2 :)
  • Next, you could apply a liner to your waterline/tightline or your upper lid. I didn't as I felt it was dark enough, and I was at my boyfriends so didn't have a kohl eyeliner on me.
  • Lastly, apply a generous amount of mascara. You may as well go out and put some pretty fierce lashes on, again I didn't because I was at my boyfriends and didn't have any onhand :)
Anyway, I hoped you enjoyed this! Got all my blog posts for the next 2 months all planned out and starting to prepare for them!

Thank you for reading!

MOTD: 20th February 2015.

I think this is the best my eyeliner has been in a long time if I do say so myself. Will show another pic with a closeup of my eyes just after my list of products:

The shadows I used from the Urban Decay palette were Limit in the crease, Buzz all over the lid and Dust just in the inner corner with a damp brush.
This was my finished look when everything was done, hope you like it! :D

Another smokey eye post is coming on the blog soon, plus my top 10 fave lippies!

Thank you for reading x

Illamasqua Winter Sale Haul.

So, Illamasqua (aka the love of my life) had a winter sale (aka my dream) where they were selling some of their products for 50% off, some for 60% off and some for 70% off. With the last of my Christmas money, I decided to treat myself to some perfect lip products - for those of you who don't know or may not have tried them, Illamasqua lipsticks are the best. Maybe on par with MAC.

So in this little post I thought I'd just show you guys what I got and show just how good these products are! I'm going to do a swatch on my hand plus show you what they look like on my lips as if you have the same skin tone as me or similar skin tone to me you'll see if you would like them for yourself! :)

The lipstick I got was the colour 'Resist' which Illamasqua describe on their website as a 'deep rose pink' and I agree with that. It's also a matte finish which sometimes I don't always want so I pair it with one of their Sheer Lipglosses in the colour 'Divine' which Illamasqua describe on their website as a 'deep fuschia pink' and is beautiful both on it's own and paired with Resist. This is now my number one lip combo for a more subtle, natural lip as if you know me personally you'll know I'm not a massive 'nude lip' girl! You also may have seen me mention this in my last post and if you haven't, check it out here :) Lastly I got one of their Intense lipglosses in the shade 'Fierce' which is described as a 'bright blue purple' and oh my god, this is INTENSE. I love it. And I think I might pair it with ESP by Illamasqua if I'm feeling more of a glossy lip as ESP is also a matte finish :)

This is Resist on the lips on it's own. As you can see this is such a beautiful colour. I love it and if you have a similar skin tone to me you will too. This is sold on the website for £18.50 but in the sale I got it for £9.25. Bargain, right?

This is Resist with Divine on top. Such a beautiful combo :)

This is Divine on it's own. This is sold on the website for £16.50 and I got it in the sale for £6.60.

This is Fierce on it's own, again it's on the website for £16.50 and I got it for £6.60 :) I am overall very very happy with my Illamasqua purchases (as always) and I am totally in love with them!

The other thing I LOVE about Illamasqua is that they normally have photos of 'Moving swatches' - ie. people putting the product on, but they always do people with three different skin tones to show you how it may look on you. SO helpful as you may think you're gonna love a product when you see it on the website and then when you get it delivered it isn't quite what you thought it was! So no moneys wasted :)

Anyway I hope you enjoyed this post!

January Favourites 2015.

I've decided that every now and again I'm going to do a 'Monthly Favourites' whenever I have a decent amount of things I can share with you guys! So here's my monthly favourites for January :) (a good four days late but we'll ignore that :p)

  • Illamasqua Sheer Lipgloss in the shade Divine - I got this and my next favourite in the Winter Sale and I am absolutely in love with it. I'm going to do a post on my Illamasqua Winter Sale haul some point this week too! :D
  • Illamasqua Matte Lipstick in the shade Resist - this I pair with Divine if I don't want a matte lip and this is the pink DREAM. In love. Don't have enough praise for it :3
  • NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Vanilla - this used to be v hard to come by and I'm so glad it's not anymore because I love it, goodbye dark circles!
  • Sons of Anarchy - I watched this with my brother late last year but I wanted to get my boyfriend into it, knowing he'd love it so it's another favourite of mine for just now :) And girls - if you're a Charlie Hunnam fan (idk why you would be though) then you'll have some eye candy but if you're a Ryan Hurst fan (then you're my kinda gal) then you will definitely have some eye candy! Will attach a pic down below ;)
  • Coco Pops - this is a VERY random favourite but they've been in my house recently and I've been obsessed because I haven't had them for years!
  • Killpop by Slipknot - this is another favourite because of my boyfriend who (and I hope he doesn't read this because that means he wins) has gotten me VERY into Slipknot. Which is the last thing I ever expected. But if you like heavier music then check this out :)
  • L'Oreal True Match Foundation in the shade N1 - this foundation has been pretty good to me recently, although I always have a love/hate relationship with it so we'll see how this continues. No doubt I'll have a moan about it at some point on here!
  • MAC Mineralize Skin finish in the shade Soft & Gentle - just a perfect highlighter. There's nothing more I can say. BUY IT.
  • MAC lipliner in the shade Nightmoth - it's a pretty purpley plum colour that I outline my lips with before blending into my lips and then putting Resist by Illamasqua on top. :)

And I leave you with the beauty of Ryan Hurst/Opie Winston ;)
