What's In My Everyday Makeup Bag & Current Everyday Makeup Look.

I thought this would be a good wee post to do as I don't love wearing lots of makeup day to day but I thought I'd show what I do wear step by step. :)

1. I use this Garnier Moisture Match (this is the one for dry to very dry skin) this stuff is often on sale for only £1 in tesco which is a total bloody bargain for what it is!! I love using this to moisturise before foundation because it leaves everything perfectly hydrated.

2. Next I'll prime my eyelids. This one is the Barbara Day smoothing eye makeup primer. It doesn't really matter which one you use, I feel they all work the same really as long as there's that base down before you use any shadows or anything.

3. Next using the fluffy blending brush (the orange one) I put the colour Concrete by MAC through my crease and make sure it's perfectly blended before using the flat brush and the colour Satin Taupe all over the lid and just up to the crease. Again making sure it's perfectly blended before I go on.

4. Ok so next using this teensy cute tiny angled brush and my Illamasqua Brow Cake in Gaze, I create completely new brows for myself since I was cursed with a crappy, sparse brow! And I long for strong brows so this is the only way I can get them for now :p

5. Next, I'll blend my foundation all over my face. The foundation I'm using depends on how my skin looks, I'll normally opt for Rimmel Wake Me Up but yesterday when I was doing my makeup (and taking these photos) my skin was looking a bit crappier and I opted for Illamasqua Skinbase in 5. I love this as its a medium to full coverage, beautifully blendable, buildable and just sits amazingly on the skin.

6. Using my fave powder of all time, I powder the centre of my face only (forehead, chin, nose, under eyes. You know, the places it ain't cute to be oily)

7. Next I'll finish my eyes off with mascara, this one is the Rimmel Day 2 Night. It's ok, I guess. :)

8. Using MAC's Vanilla pigment I brighten up the inner corner of my eyes and give myself that beautiful glowy, dewy look.

9. To finish off I warm up my complexion with MAC's Bronzing Powder in Golden.

Here's the finished look! :) sometimes I use Velvet Teddy by MAC on the lips (aka best nude evaaaa) but yesterday it was way too warm and I just wanted to drink so much water and couldn't be bothered haha :)

Anyway I hope you enjoyed this post! I enjoyed writing it :) sorry for the lack of action on this blog. Will get back into it v soon.

MOTD: 21st February \\ Dark Smokey eye.

I'm gonna focus todays makeup post mostly on my eyes as my skin didn't look too great to be completely honest.
Here was my eye look though, a very dark smokey eye, similar to one I've already done on my blog before, just a touch darker and deeper under the eyes too:
For this look I used mostly the Naked Basics palette by Urban Decay but also a MAC eyeshadow. I used "Concrete" by MAC on my eyebrows if you're wondering (which as well as my skin, looked a riot on this particular day, lol, just my luck)
I think this look is perfect on any and everyone, eye colour/shape, everyone. Just adapt it to your eye shape is all I'd say, as I generally prefer a winged out look, you might not. Obviously if you want to do this look on yourself, you can use whatever colours/brands etc you have. You do not need to go out and buy exactly what I'm using, I'm just telling you what I used incase you DO have it, because it would obviously be easier. And if you don't have it, just click on the links I've put in and it'll show you what colours to look for in your own collection to recreate this!
Anyway, steps for this look are:
  • DO NOT DO YOUR FOUNDATION FIRST. With this dark of an eye look, you are bound to get some fallout and or mess up, if you do your foundation first, you will regret it. Just like I did.
  • Prime your eyelids (and under your eye if you like) with anything you like that you feel keeps your eyeshadow on longer, whether that be Urban Decay's Primer Potion or just your normal concealer, use it. It helps. Can't stress that enough.
  • Next, with a big fluffy crease brush, put a nice brown through your crease and just above it as your transition shade, it helps with blending, A LOT, trust me. For this I used a mix of "Wedge" by MAC and Naked 2 from the Basics palette.
  • With a smaller, less fluffier crease brush, start to put the colour "Faint" more precisely through the crease.
  • Next, with a flat eyeshadow brush, one that's used mainly to pack colour on, apply a generous amount of the colour "Crave" from the Basics palette all over the mobile lid (ie, no further than your crease)
  • Don't panic if it's not dark enough yet, it is SO much easier to add more colour than it is to take away. Especially when working with black. Add as much as you like for however dark you'd like it to be.
  • Next, use a teensy weensy (good technical words, eh?) pencil brush to get very close to your lashline with the colour "Crave", blend that out with your big fluffy brush you used first with Wedge and Naked 2 :)
  • Next, you could apply a liner to your waterline/tightline or your upper lid. I didn't as I felt it was dark enough, and I was at my boyfriends so didn't have a kohl eyeliner on me.
  • Lastly, apply a generous amount of mascara. You may as well go out and put some pretty fierce lashes on, again I didn't because I was at my boyfriends and didn't have any onhand :)
Anyway, I hoped you enjoyed this! Got all my blog posts for the next 2 months all planned out and starting to prepare for them!

Thank you for reading!

MOTD: 20th February 2015.

I think this is the best my eyeliner has been in a long time if I do say so myself. Will show another pic with a closeup of my eyes just after my list of products:

The shadows I used from the Urban Decay palette were Limit in the crease, Buzz all over the lid and Dust just in the inner corner with a damp brush.
This was my finished look when everything was done, hope you like it! :D

Another smokey eye post is coming on the blog soon, plus my top 10 fave lippies!

Thank you for reading x

New Years Day Makeup :)

This look is one that I done a couple of weekends ago for a night out for my brother's birthday but I liked it and it's sparkliness so much that I'm going to recreate it for New Years Day! :)

Again, just going to list and link the products I've used, I'm trying to schedule all my blog posts for the next couple of weeks so it's just easier to be doing it this way, plus, I'm pretty sure everything in this makeup look ain't too complicated so easily recreated :) x

Christmas Day Makeup.

My Christmas Day makeup ended up purpley in order to match my top I was wearing :) Also chose not to wear any lip products other than a non tinted lip balm purely because the eyes are pretty bold/colourful for me and I didn't want to put two bold things together as I'm not a massive fan of neutrals, my lips were and still are super dry and also because it was Christmas Day, I knew I'd be eating all day, so what's the point in constantly reapplying and making my lips drier?! :p

Anyway, I will just list all the products I used in order to get this look as I'm feeling a lil lazy, I'll also link everything that I can :)

Hope you enjoyed this! :) I really liked this makeup look, I hope you like it too :3

Robyn's Works Night Out Makeup - 11th December.

Robyn and I put her hair into my heated rollers to start off with and used hairspray on them as we went so that her hair would stay in place and also be finished for once her makeup was done! Firstly with Robyn I primed her eyes with the 'Barbara Day even smoother eye primer' which I got from tesco but can't find it anywhere on the site to link on here... Next I first went in with "MAC's Wedge" in her crease just to define it a little, we then went over that with "MAC's Concrete" softly in the centre and concentrated it more in the inner and outer corners of her eye, making sure to wing it out at the outer corner of her eye. Next we went in with a pink colour from my "Makeup Revolution Awesome Eyeshadow Collection" (it doesn't have a colour listed but if it did I'd have listed it) in ONLY the centre of her eye, blending it in with the inner and outer corner we used Concrete on.
To add some extra sparkle we went in with L'Oreal Paris' Color Riche eye shadow in '204 Golden Nude' just over where we put Concrete and Wedge. I also lightly dusted 'Slink' from my Illamasqua Complement palette to her eyes. I lightly filled in her wonderful brows with Illamasqua's eyebrow cake in Gaze. Time for liner! I used a mixture of L'Oreal's Super Liner Blackbuster to get the general shape and filled it in with L'Oreal's Super Liner Perfect Slim to get it really black and fill in any sparse areas. Robyn also used Rimmel London's Scandaleyes Mascara in Extreme Black.
Next it was time for the skin! So wiping away any fallout from the eyeshadows, we moisturised her skin with Garnier Essentials Hydrating Day Care which Robyn and I both love cause it smells so yummy! I used Rimmel's Match Perfection concealer in 010 Ivory under her eyes and around her nose area and blended that into her skin. Next I mixed one teeeny tiny half a pump of Benefit's Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation in I'm pure 4 sure, Ivory with a full pump of Rimmel's Wake Me Up foundation in 100 Ivory and blended that into her skin, making it look even more flawless!
I powdered her skin with my good old Rimmel Stay Matte powder before contouring her cheek bones with MAC's Bronzing Powder in Golden and also put it around her temples. Robyn and I love a good old highlight so we highlighted her skin with MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle. Lastly for her lips we went with "Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet" lipstick in the shade "Ole Flamingo!" or "Nude-ist!" (I can't remember which one and Robyn still has it with her)

Anyway here is her finished look! I hope you all enjoyed this post and again, I'm SO sorry for not posting much!! I have linked all the products that I can find, any that aren't there have either been discontinued or I just can't find. Thank you for reading :) x

Makeup of the Day - 22nd November 2014.

Hey there!
So I'm going to do a little post every now and again (mostly whenever I've done makeup that I actually like or if it's something that's not just 'everyday' and common for me) of how I've done my makeup that day :)

This is the eye makeup I went for today, totally made it up as I went along and ended up loving it so I figured I'd take quick snaps before I went out and do a post on it :) Okay so firstly for my skin I moisturised with Garnier Essentials Hydrating Day Care, then went in with my Benefit Brow Zings in medium (I only use the wax) and put that all over my brows then filled them in with Illamasqua's browcake in Gaze. Next I put Soap & Glory's Kick Ass Concealer all over my lid as a base (and cleaned up any mistakes I made with my brows) and then applied MAC's Orb all over my lid and crease, this colour is just very pale and makes a perfect base colour. I then added MAC's Wedge into my crease and then finally added a bit of MAC's Concrete eye shadow into the outer corner of my eyes to darken it up. Next I lined my top lash line with L'Oreal's super liner and winged it out at the ends. Next for my face I mixed Benefit's Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation (is that the longest name or what?) in the shade "I'm Pure 4 Sure, Ivory" with Rimmel's Wake Me Up foundation in 100 Ivory. I mix them because I don't like the Benefit one on its own and the Rimmel one is too sparkly for me on it's own so they kind of balance each other out :) Next I powdered using Maybelline Fit Me powder in 115 Ivory. I next contoured my cheekbones with MAC's Bronzing Powder in Golden, put some blusher from Rimmel in the shade 010 Santa Rose (this is so old I don't even think you can get it anymore haha) on the apples of my cheeks and finally MAC's Mineralize Skin finish in Soft and Gentle on the highest points on my face/where light would naturally hit (top of the cheekbones, bit on the forehead, cupids bow and chin and down the bridge of the nose) I finished off my eyes with Benefit's They're Real mascara and voila! I'm all done :) I would normally pair this with a red lip but my lips are so dry/cut/chapped that I couldn't even bear it haha :) Anyway, I'm gonna really start trying to do more things on here!
Please excuse my Me to You onesie haha :) but here is the finished look!

Thinking about doing a lip product collection on here but kind of scared because I have SO much stuff. We'll see :)

MOTD | Mostly Drugstore Items.

I thought I'd do a little Makeup of the Day for you guys! I'm just going to show you all the products (including brushes) that I used today to make my face a lot more presentable to the world.

I should say that I first off washed and moisturised my face and I might do a skincare type post soon, not sure yet! Anyway, so the first thing I used on my skin was the Makeup Academy Pro-Base Primer which claims to flawlessly even out your complexion - I have to say, I don't agree with that. It is a decent primer in that it keeps my foundation on all day, I'll possibly do a review on it soon.

Next, since my skin is super bad just now, I went in with my concealer before I done my foundation. I dabbed it all under my eyes and then all over my cheeks area (I have an insane amount of redness just now all over my face, not sure why) and the concealer I use for this is the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in the shade Ivory 10.

Next I went in with my cream highlighter by Illamasqua in the shade Aurora. This is absolutely gorgeous and highlights perfectly, I love it. I just dabbed it on the highest points of my cheekbones and a little bit down the nose for under my foundation.
So then, using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, I blended the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in the shade 010 Light Porcelain into my skin and then with any leftover brush strokes, I dabbed with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge to give my face an even, flawless coverage (I wasn't up for showing the sponge up close because it's embarrassingly dirty)
Now onto powder, I use the Maybelline Fit Me powder in the shade 115. It's a decent powder and keeps me pretty matte all day, which I love. I do prefer the Rimmel Stay Matte one though. I just use a French Connection powder brush with this to set my foundation. I also then curl my eyelashes.
After my powder, I dab a little bit more of the Illamasqua highlighter on to the highest points of my cheekbones again just to give it even more of a pop. Next, I go on to blusher. I use the Rimmel Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in Santa Rose. It's more of a bronzey-colour rather than a blush for me since I'm awfully pale and don't like many blushers but I like it nonetheless to give my cheek bones some definition. I use the Real Techniques Blush brush with this.
So next I comb my eyebrows through (or what there is of them...) with a little spoolie/spooly? Idk. One of them, anyway! Then I start to shape my brows using an Angled eyeliner brush - it's just one I got out of H&M but it's decent for my brows. I then fill in everywhere that is sparse and make sure they're the shape I want them. If I've made any mistakes, I'll go in with a little lip brush and my concealer to erase the mistakes. I use Illamasqua's brow cake in Gaze for my eyebrows.

I then curl my eyelashes once more and use my YSL Mascara that they no longer do. I then use my No7 Exceptional Definition mascara to use for my bottom lashes since it's teeny tiny.

I have linked absolutely everything I can - if things aren't on sale anymore that's why they're not linked! This is my kind of every day, go-to makeup routine and it's not anything fancy, pretty natural and light. This is what I looked like this morning after all of this:

I am being so overly posey in this photo, I do apologise. But I hope you enjoyed reading this, I enjoyed doing it actually and will be doing more like this in the future I think! I think an eyebrow tutorial (possibly with just step by step pictures will be coming on here soon as I have just now realised how big and bushy my eyebrows are with makeup, yet with nothing on them they are barely there, haha! Anyway, I'm rambling.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Thank you again for reading,

Rachel
