Get to Know Me: My Tattoos.

Hey lovelies!
Today's post is on tattoos. Personally I love them, I want lots of tattoos so I expect there to be another post like this up in a couple of years, haha!

My first ever tattoo was this:

Sorry for the pure awkward angle of this, this was taken just after it was done and it's a very difficult tattoo to get a picture of. Anyway, I think it took around 30-45 minutes, I can't really remember. When I first got this I'd of said the pain was about a 7/10 but after getting my second tattoo, I realise I was naive, haha, it was actually probably a 5/10. It healed pretty well, didn't scab up too much but was the most annoying thing ever when it went through it's itchy stage because of where it is - it's on my ribs btw, just realised I didn't mention that. It's lyrics from a letlive. song called Dreamer's Disease, I'll link it here. It's my favourite band and the song just really resonated at the time.. My mum had passed away a year previous and I just felt that our family home was (and still is) always a little bit empty without her and that your home should be where your heart is, but since my home felt empty, so did my heart. I just got the tattoo to remind myself that my home isn't empty, she's always with us and I guess it was a little way to just commemorate how I felt at that time and that I will come forward from it, I won't always feel empty and my heart won't always be broken.
The full paragraph of lyrics that I chose this from says:

They say home is where the heart is,
so where do you keep your bed?
And if home is where the heart is,
then what do I do...
with this empty chest?

My next tattoo was more of a special sort of tribute to her rather than to how I felt about her passing. Originally, there's another photo of both her and my brother (for anyone who doesn't know, my brother passed away not long after my mum did) where they are cuddled up that I wanted tattooed but it's too small and the detail would be lost so I decided to get two separate portraits. Since my mum passed first, I decided to get her portrait first.

This is when it was literally just finished so it's very swollen and it's an awkward tattoo, again to get a photo of because of where it sits but I absolutely love it. I attached the photo the portrait came from too and I think he done an absolutely amazing job. I got it done by Colin from Beneath the Surface in Cumbernauld, here is their facebook page, all the artists in there are amazing but obviously I highly recommend Colin - he done my first one too. This took about 3 and a half/4 hours and it was painful in some parts, not so bad in others. Towards the elbow ditch it was absolute agony, but altogether I'd give it about a 7/10 for pain. I think there were moments where it was a definite 9/10 but it wasn't so bad in other places, and anyway, it was so, so worth the pain!

I swear I planned for my brother's portrait to be my next tattoo but the place I mentioned above did a Friday the 13th flash sale and I had to get this cute lil guy, he's on my leg just above my ankle and I love it. It was done by Kyle and he was amazing, can't wait to book up for more things with him! This was about a 5/10 for pain - really wasn't too sore at all.

Well, that's it for my tattoos! I have my brothers tattoo booked in for the 15th September but I'll do a separate post on it! :)
